Winter and early spring are great times for planning and designing an adobe structure and learning the basics of adobe construction through small hands-on projects. Adobe in Action has divided the preliminary steps of designing and constructing a typical adobe brick home into four online classes which will all be held this spring:

1. Passive Solar Adobe Design (Feb 13 to April 8, 2012)
2. NM Adobe Building Permit Process (Feb 13 to April 8, 2012)
3. History & Basics of Adobe Construction (April 9 to June 3, 2012)
4. Foundations for Adobe Structures (April 9 to June 3, 2012)

More details about these upcoming online classes can be found here:

A complete overview of the entire Adobe in Action Certificate in Adobe Construction curriculum can be found here:

http://www.adobeinaction.org/education/

Registration is open right now and can be completed using Adobe in Action's online registration system:

This first wave of online classes is a great way to prepare yourself for Adobe in Actions's early-summer workshops which will cover more advanced topics such as adobe wall construction and roofs for adobe structures in a live-instruction setting in Northern New Mexico. Check back at the Adobe in Action website for details on those upcoming classes.

We now have close to fifty abstracts of proposed presentations from as far away as Beijing, Bangladesh and Bulgaria, the Three B's of Adobe. Closer to home, Bernalillo.

These abstracts will soon be posted on the Conference webpage. Classes, workshops, seminars, demonstrations and tours will surround the Conference. It can safely be said that this will be the biggest earth construction and architecture gathering in the USA since Adobe 90 took place in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

This will be an opportunity to meet local and world leaders in the earthbuilding movement. State of the art techniques developed around 2000 BC will be displayed alongside the old and traditionall methods. Meet your mentors, peers and competitors at this event.

</rss:item></rdf:RDF>
